The AlFunFeed project, in partnership with UNIVPM, is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Giulia Chemello as a postdoctoral researcher, following a rigorous and highly competitive public selection process. The team is thrilled to welcome Giulia, whose expertise and passion for sustainable aquaculture research will significantly strengthen the project’s activities.
Within AlFunFeed, Giulia will play a key role in the assessment of European sea bass welfare, a core research activity aimed at understanding how innovative and alternative aquafeed formulations affect the health and well-being of farmed fish. Her contribution will support the project’s mission to promote sustainable and circular aquaculture solutions, bridging the gap between cutting-edge nutrition research and practical fish welfare evaluation.
Giulia brings a rich background in the study of alternative protein sources in aquafeeds and their effects on immune function in fish. Leveraging her expertise, she will apply a multidisciplinary approach, combining histological, molecular, and spectroscopic analyses to provide a detailed and integrative assessment of fish responses to different dietary treatments. This approach ensures that AlFunFeed can not only evaluate the nutritional value of novel feed ingredients but also assess their broader impact on fish physiology and welfare.
The addition of Giulia to the team reflects AlFunFeed’s commitment to scientific excellence, innovation, and sustainability. By combining advanced research techniques with a practical understanding of aquaculture, the project aims to develop solutions that are both environmentally responsible and economically viable, supporting the growth of a resilient and sustainable blue economy.
We are excited to have Giulia on board and look forward to her contributions in advancing the project’s goals. Welcome to the team, Giulia!
