AlFunFeed at AquaFarm 2026

Advancing sustainable aquaculture feed solutions

AlFunFeed recently took part in AquaFarm 2026 (at the Pordenone Exhibition Centre, Pordenone) one of Italy’s leading international exhibitions and conferences dedicated to aquaculture, algaculture and the sustainable management of aquatic resources. The event, held in Pordenone on February 18-19, brings together industry professionals, researchers, technology suppliers, policy makers, and investors to discuss innovation, market trends and future challenges in the aquaculture sector.

As a key annual meeting point for Mediterranean and European aquaculture, AquaFarm offers a dynamic platform for networking, knowledge exchange and showcasing cutting-edge solutions across the value chain, from feed production to processing technologies and environmental sustainability. The exhibition area is complemented by a rich conference programme addressing topics such as sustainable production models, circular economy approaches, new ingredients, digitalisation and regulatory developments.

During this edition, the AlFunFeed Project was represented by its dissemination lead, Prof. Ike Olivotto, contributing to discussions on innovative and sustainable feed strategies for aquaculture. Participation in AquaFarm provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s objectives and ongoing activities to a specialised and highly engaged audience.

The event enabled fruitful exchanges with feed producers, aquaculture companies, researchers and other stakeholders interested in alternative protein sources and functional feed additives. These interactions are essential for ensuring that AlFunFeed’s research remains aligned with industry needs and market expectations, and for fostering future collaborations.

Beyond dissemination, AquaFarm represented a valuable moment for listening and learning. Discussions during the conference sessions highlighted both the rapid technological progress in the sector and the pressing challenges it faces, including raw material availability, cost competitiveness, environmental constraints and consumer demand for sustainable products. In this context, innovation in feed formulation plays a pivotal role in improving the overall sustainability and efficiency of aquaculture systems.

AlFunFeed will continue to actively engage with stakeholders through participation in international events, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, knowledge sharing and impact creation.
